Sex Offender Who Attacked Girl On School Playground Sentenced

The 6-year-old girl was attacked after she was dropped off at Lincoln Elementary School​ in Torrance earlier this year.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A registered sex offender was sentenced Monday to 15 years to life in state prison after he pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl after she was dropped off at Lincoln Elementary School in Torrance earlier this year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

Dalan Anthony Johnson, 32, of Torrance, pleaded no contest to one count of forcible lewd act upon a child under the age of 14.

On March 28, Johnson assaulted the young girl at an elementary school.

According to the court papers from a lawsuit filed on behalf of the victim against the Torrance Unified School District and Johnson, Johnson entered the school unhindered, abused the girl, played basketball with another young boy on campus and then walked away.

He was on parole at the time and was wearing an ankle bracelet, the prosecutor said. The girl reported the incident the same day and Johnson was arrested a short time later, the District Attorney's Office said.

The case was investigated by the Torrance Police Department.
