REDONDO BEACH, CA — Seven months after a flood during construction destroyed half the rooms, Shade Hotel Redondo Beach has set an October grand opening date.
The hotel is part of the Redondo Beach Waterfront Revitalization Project, according to the company.
The three-story, luxury boutique hotel, located in the marina at 655 N. Harbor Drive, is ready to take reservations for its 54 rooms. The hotel will also be hosting a pre-opening celebration and an L.A. Rams watch party Oct. 2. The hotel's official opening will be Oct. 7

“We are thrilled to announce that the second Shade Hotel will officially open in the beautiful community of Redondo Beach this summer,” said Michael Zislis, owner of the hotel. “Despite the setbacks we encountered during construction, we are pleased that Shade will open before the season’s end, as well as excited to introduce ourselves to our newest neighbors.”
The flood in March delayed the hotel's opening by three months, costing the company $1 million in damages. It also prevented the company from raking in the summer season tourist dollars.

The hotel features Sea Level, a farm-to-table restaurant serving California coastal cuisine, and AquaDeck, an open-air rooftop pool. The hotel is planning to host weekly seasonal pool parties starting next year.
