Small Earthquake Shakes South Bay

People across the South Bay report feeling the shaking, which was preliminarily classified as a magnitude-2.4 earthquake.

A magnitude-2.4 earthquake struck the South Bay shortly after 1 p.m. Friday.

According to preliminary data from the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the quake was located about one mile west southwest of El Segundo about 8.5 miles below the surface.

The earthquake was classified as weak. No damage was reported.

On the USGS website, people in Los Angeles, Gardena, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Marina del Rey, Inglewood and Torrance reported feeling the earthquake.
