South Bay Float Wins Award At 2020 Roses Parade

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The Torrance Rose Float Association took home an award from the 2020 Rose Parade Wednesday.

The "Our Garden of Home & Dreams" float won the Princess Award for most outstanding floral presentation among entries 35 feet-and-under in length. The float includes a pond with koi fish jumping in and out of the water, surrounded by lily pads and rocks, pine trees and a variety of flowers, including peach roses.

There were 39 float entries in the 131st Rose Parade on January 1. This year’s theme was “The Power of Hope,” which celebrates the influence of hope, according to the Tournament of Roses Parade.

The UPS Store, Inc. float titled "Stories Change Our World" took top honors at the parade. The float, built by Irwindale-based Fiesta Parade Floats, is a salute to the importance of childhood literacy and highlights the Toys for Tots Literacy Program.

The Sweepstakes Award honors the most beautiful entry encompassing float design, floral presentation and entertainment. UPS also won this honor in 2019 for another float emphasizing the importance of books, reading and literacy.
