South Bay Hotel Stabbing Suspect Accused Of Attempted Murder

A 39-year-old man accused of stabbing a man at a South Bay hotel was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

TORRANCE, CA — A 39-year-old man accused of stabbing another man at a South Bay hotel was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, the Torrance Police Department said Monday.

Officers found a man stabbed inside a hotel room on Sept. 16 at the Plaza Hotel, 1720 Cabrillo Avenue, Torrance, Torrance Police Sgt. Mark Ponegalek said.

Paramedics rushed him to a hospital where he was treated for stab wounds to his neck, Ponegalek said.

Detectives began an investigation and identified the suspect, Ponegalek said.

Torrance and Gardena police department SWAT took the suspect into custody without incident at a Torrance home about 12 hours later.

Daniel Kim, 39, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Kim is currently in custody pending the preliminary hearing. His bail was set at $1M. His next court date is Oct. 4 at Torrance Municipal Court.
