Man Drugged And Raped 9 Women, Killing 1 At His South Bay Home: DA

A South Bay man is facing life in prison for allegedly drugging and raping nine women between 2019 and 2021, according to authorities.

According to Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón, 51-year-old Michael DiGiorgio brought the women to his homes in Hermosa and Redondo Beach and drugged them with a controlled substance between 2019 and 2021.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A South Bay man is facing charges for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting nine women, killing one of them, according to Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón.

According to Gascón, 51-year-old Michael DiGiorgio brought the women to his homes in Hermosa and Redondo Beach and drugged them with a controlled substance between 2019 and 2021. One of the women died from being drugged, the District Attorney said. Investigators are urging additional victims to come forward.

“I extend my deepest sympathy to the victims, whose lives have been irrevocably changed and the life lost by the alleged brutal acts of the offender,” Gascón said. “Our office is committed to holding him accountable for the pain and trauma he has inflicted. The safety and well-being of our community is our top priority, and we will not tolerate this type of predatory behavior in our communities. I encourage anyone with information related to these incidents or any other incidents regarding Mr. DiGiorgio to report it to the Redondo Beach Police Department.”

DiGiorgio is charged with murder, rape by use of a drug, sodomy by use of a drug, sexual penetration by use of a drug, oral copulation by use of a drug, forcible rape, forcible sexual penetration, rape of an unconscious person and furnishing a controlled substance.

If convicted, DiGiorgio faces life in prison. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday in Department 30 of the Clara Shortridge Folz Criminal Justice Center.

The case is being prosecuted by the District Attorney's Sex Crimes Division and is being investigated by the Redondo Beach Police Department.

Investigators believe there are more victims of DiGiorgio and urged anyone who believes they were victimized to contact RBPD's hotline at 714-863-2859.
