Vehicle Theft Suspect in Custody After Holding Woman Hostage Inside Lawndale Home

A SWAT team and crisis negotiators were able to get the man to surrender to authorities.

LAWNDALE, CA — A man wanted for vehicle theft was in custody Wednesday afternoon after allegedly holding a woman hostage, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Information Bureau.

Three suspects alleged stole a vehicle around 9 a.m. and deputies chased the suspects to the residence on the 14900 block of Osage Avenue, Deputy Ryan Rouzan said.

Three then got out of the vehicle and attempted to flee. Two were apprehended immediately and another ran into the home where he was allegedly holding a woman hostage, according the sheriff's department.

A SWAT team and crisis negotiators were sent to the scene, and the man was taken into custody early Wednesday afternoon. His name was not immediately released.
