2 SMC BBQ Joints Ranked Among Bay Area's 12 Best

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Two barbecue joints in San Mateo County are among the best dozen in the Bay Area, according to an updated list from Eater San Francisco. The publication freshened up its top 12 at the end of last month, charting its favorite spots to chow down on brisket and ribs, from classic haunts to "new-school spots."

On the Peninsula, Eater shouted out Capelo's Barbecue, which has a food truck to supplement its restaurant and beer garden in Redwood City. Reviewers highlighted Capelo's signature slow-smoked brisket, while other fan favorites include pork ribs, pulled pork and smoked chicken.

Paying a visit to the Coastside, Eater gave the nod to El Granada's Breakwater Barbecue. Reviewers celebrated the Michelin-listed restaurant's simple four-meat menu, shareable platters, and Breakwater's unbeatable beach backdrop.
