Alleged Teacher Abuse Sends Student to Hospital

Mother says child has become violent and aggressive.

A 5-year-old autistic boy ended up in the hospital after a Redwood City special education teacher allegedly slapped him and deprived him of food, according to the San Mateo County Times.

The boy’s mother, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told the Times that her son had been vomiting several times a day for a period of about a week in February. When she took him to the hospital, doctors were unable to explain the cause of his symptoms.

However, she believed it was related to , a 44-year-old Millbrae resident and special education teacher in Redwood City.

Bogdis turned herself into authorities on Feb. 4 after police issued a warrant based on a report from Child Protective Services regarding possible physical abuse of students at the the special education center adjacent to the Roosevelt Child Development Center in Redwood City.

About a week prior to the employee tip that led to Bogdis’ arrest, the boy’s mother received a text message from a teacher’s aide warning of the abuse, according to the Times. She said her son has become violent and aggressive since the abuse.
