Man Hit, Killed On Peninsula Caltrain Tracks

The man was on the tracks at Main Street in Redwood City where a Caltrain car traveling southbound hit him.

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- Marking the second Caltrain fatality this year, a man on the tracks at Main Street was struck and killed by Caltrain car No. 134 heading southbound at 10:07 a.m., which was about 20 minutes before the U.S. Geological Survey reported a 2.8-magnitude temblor shook the earth in the Daly City area: https://patch.com/california/.

The main track, No. 2 heading southbound, has reopened after being closed in the Redwood City area, while the main track, No. 1 with northbound travel, is also operation at full speed in the effected area.

Caltrain spokesman Dan Lieberman told Patch if the earthquake registers as a 5.0 or higher magnitude, the tracks would need to be physically checked with a "walk-through," although the level of inspection changes based on how far out the epicenter is.
