Body Identified In Van On San Mateo Highway: CHP

REDWOOD CITY, CA — The San Mateo County Coroner’s office has identified the dead body of a man California Highway Patrol officers found in a minivan this week on US-101 in San Mateo County.

The coroner’s office said Gerardo Samora-Lopez, 30, a Redwood City resident, was the man found dead in the minivan on Wednesday. The cause of death is still pending, according to the coroner’s office.

CHP officers were dispatched to a medical-emergency call on the US-101 southbound.

At around 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, CHP officers found a Toyota Sienna minivan parked on the right shoulder of US-101, north of SR-92 in San Mateo County. They located a person in the back seat and fire personnel pronounced them dead at the scene.

Drivers in the area were advised to avoid the area, which impacted traffic, until about 6 p.m., authorities said.
