Sheriff's K-9 Helps Catch Man Burglarizing Discoteca

The man was booked in San Mateo County jail on multiple charges.

Sheriff deputies arrested a 21-year-old they believe to have burglarized on Wednesday night after they captured surveillance footage of him taking items from the business.

Deputies’ investigation found that Carlos Molina-Zavala of San Jose, used his vehicle to ram the business’s roll-up door to gain entry. He proceeded to take numerous clothing items from the Middlefield Road business then loaded them in his vehicle.

After deputies received a call of a burglary in process, they arrived on scene and immediately set up a perimeter around the business. A black Volkswagen was parked outside the business’s roll-up door, which had extensive damage.

Deputies deployed K-9 “Artos” after the suspect who was seen running into the Discoteca.

Deputies commanded the suspect, who was hiding near the front of the business, but he did not comply. The suspect made a furtive movement near his waistband area and attempted to flee the premises.

The K-9 was deployed and was able to subdue the suspect and subsequently arrested.

Molina-Zavala also has an outstanding warrant out of Santa Clara County, and was booked into San Mateo County jail on charges of commercial burglary, vandalism and resisting arrest.
