Man Charged With Attempted Armed Robbery At Redwood City Store
The man, who police said brought a semi-automatic pistol into the store, was charged with attempted armed robbery.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A man was arrested Tuesday in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a Redwood City jewelry store on Sunday.
Angel Veragaleana, 27, was accused of threatening a victim inside Adriana’s Joyeria on El Camino Real with a semi-automatic pistol. According to Redwood City police, Veragaleana attempted to pull the trigger, but the weapon appeared to have malfunctioned and ejected two live rounds.
Veragaleana then smashed the glass counter with his hand, ran out the door and fled in his car, according to police.

Police detectives arrested Veragaleana on Tuesday after serving search warrants in Redwood City and Menlo Park. Police said they located a pistol at Veragaleana’s residence and a ghost gun at a second residence.
Veragaleana was charged with attempted armed robbery, possession of a stolen firearm, brandishing a firearm and burglary.
