Mysterious Death Surrounding SMC Body Found: Police

Police found a man alone and unconscious with serious head trauma, pronouncing him dead at the scene.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Police said they found a man unconscious near a parking structure Sunday in Redwood City where they pronounced him dead and are now investigating the cause of death.

At around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Redwood City Police officers said they responded to a report that a person was lying unconscious on the 1900 block of Broadway.

Officers said when they arrived they found a man lying in the driveway leading to a sublevel parking structure. He was unconscious and had obvious head trauma, police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office later took custody of the remains.

The cause and circumstances of the man's death are under investigation. At this time, police said there is a strong likelihood that the he fell from the ground level to the lower level of the parking entrance.
