Nintendo Closes Redwood City Location: Report

REDWOOD CITY, CA — The video game company Nintendo shut down its Redwood City location, the company confirmed Friday after the gaming website Kotaku reported the decision.

Roughly 100 employees would be displaced, according to Kotaku.

Nintendo is also planning to close a second satellite office in Toronto. Employees will be moved to the Nintendo of America headquarters in Vancouver and Redmond, Washington, according to a company statement.

Kotaku also reported that staff was upset over the decision.

The Redwood City location houses the company’s sales and marketing departments, as well as a merchandising field team that works with retail stores across the country, according to the company’s about page.
