Peninsula Man Arrested On Suspicion Of San Carlos Sexual Assault

The man, an acquaintance of the victim, was accused of entering her residence while she was sleeping and sexually assaulting her.

SAN CARLOS, CA — A Menlo Park man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of a sexual assault that took place last month in San Carlos, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Fernando Altuna Mendoza, 35, who is an acquaintance of the victim, was accused of entering her residence on July 17 around 1 a.m. while she was sleeping and sexually assaulting her.

Mendoza was charged with aggravated sexual assault, rape of an unconscious victim, residential burglary and sexual penetration of an unconscious victim.
