Peninsula Woman Killed In Highway 101 Crash ID'd

At about 11:57 a.m. Saturday, Redwood City CHP received a report of the collision on 101.

BURLINGAME, CA — A 34-year-old woman was pronounced dead just after midnight Sunday morning after a rollover collision south of Millbrae Avenue on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Burlingame, California Highway Patrol said.

She was identified as Liezl Gonzales of South San Francisco, the San Mateo County coroner's office said Monday.

At about 11:57 a.m. Saturday, Redwood City CHP received a report of the collision on 101.

The driver of a 2007 Honda turned her vehicle to the right and collided with impact attenuators, which caused the vehicle to roll over on its roof and come to rest in the No. 1 lane, CHP said.

A 2016 Land Rover heading southbound in the No. 1 lane collided with the crashed Honda, which caused the Honda's driver to be ejected from the vehicle and hit a temporary concrete K-Rail with her body, CHP said.

Medical personnel pronounced the Honda driver dead at the scene.

The Land Rover driver, a 33-year-old man, had minor cuts to his right wrist, CHP said.

All southbound lanes were closed for about 90 minutes.
