Redwood City Seeks Applicants For Boards, Commissions, Committees

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Redwood City is seeking applicants to serve on its boards, commission and committees.

Several seats are open on nearly all of the city’s commissions. The positions allow residents to shape policy initiatives and advise the city council and staff.

“Effective government depends on the participation of a dedicated and diverse group of volunteers serving on our Boards, Commissions and Committees,” City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz said. “It is an excellent way to participate in local government and make a personal contribution to improving our community.”

All applicants must be 18 or older, live within incorporated Redwood City — with some exceptions for a few committees — and be eligible to vote.

The open slots are:

• Architectural Advisory Committee (appointed by the Planning Commission): 3 full-term seats expiring May 31, 2026
• Arts Commission: 3 full-term seats expiring May 31, 2026
• Board of Building Review: 2 full-term seats expiring on May 31, 2026
• Historic Resources Advisory Committee (appointed by the Planning Commission): 1 full-term seat expiring May 31, 2025
• Housing and Human Concerns Committee: 5 full-term seats expiring May 31, 2026 and 2 partial term seat expiring May 31, 2024
• Library Board: 3 full-term seats expiring June 30, 2026 and 1 partial term seat expiring June 30, 2024
• Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission: 4 full-term seats expiring May 31, 2026
• Planning Commission: 2 full-term seats expiring June 30, 2026
• Police Advisory Committee: 1 partial-term seat expiring May 31, 2023, and 1 partial term seat expiring May 31, 2025
• Port Commission: 2 full-term seats expiring July 31, 2026
• Senior Affairs Commission: 3 full-term seats expiring May 31, 2026

Applications are due May 22. Interviews with the city council take place in the first week of June, and selections will be made on June 27.
