REDWOOD CITY, CA — A Redwood City-based tech company announced Tuesday it will expand beyond the Bay Area to several West Coast markets.

Quilt, a home climate technology innovator mostly known for inventing the smart heat pump category, is based in Redwood City and has solely served the Bay Area for the last year but will now start offering installations in Los Angeles, Seattle and Portland.

“Heat pumps are this generation’s life-changing home appliance. They represent a pivotal shift in how we think about comfort and efficiency in our homes,” said Paul Lambert, co-founder and CEO of Quilt. “With Quilt’s continued expansion, we are driving the advancement of smart heat pumps with an innovative and elegant solution that not only elevates home comfort but also contributes to a more sustainable future.”

Quilt stated that its ductless heat pump system offers room-by-room temperature control, accessible via phone app or installed dials, which prevents energy waste by only heating or cooling occupied spaces.

The company emphasized climate change impacting the West Coast as a reason why their system should be available to as many people as possible.

Quilt, a company created by veterans from Google, Apple, Nest and Tesla, stated in a press release that it produces efficient home climate systems designed to replace fossil fuels. Their smart heat pumps are supposed to blend into any home and offer intuitive controls, with the goal of providing ultimate home comfort while reducing energy use.
