Shoplifters Caught In Redwood City With Over $2K In Items: Police

The pair was trying to escape with clothes and Yeti coolers from a Redwood City Sports Basement store, according to police.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A Redwood City police officer conducting routine patrol spotted two suspects running away in a Sports Basement store parking lot with $2,300 worth of stolen items over the weekend.

The pair, who were arrested and charged with grand theft after police said they made incriminating statements, was trying to escape with clothes and Yeti coolers.

But the clothes were still on hangers and had not been bagged, the officer observed.

Police did not release the names of the suspects because there is no danger to the public, the department said on Facebook.
