SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Hours before the embattled San Mateo County sheriff was unanimously voted to be removed from office on Oct. 14, she retired with full pension and benefits, according to a report by SFGate.

Former San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus was removed from office after months of denying any wrongdoing and fighting to remain in her position. It appears she had one more move that the SMC Board of Supervisors didn't see coming.

Following her retirement, Corpus will receive her pension, which reportedly includes 90% of her paycheck and benefits upon retirement, according to a report by KTVU.
