Supervisors will participate in a special meeting next week to learn more about alternative oversight models for law enforcement.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — The San Mateo Board of Supervisors is scheduled next week to host a special meeting to discuss new forms of oversight of the sheriff's office.
The study session will convene Tuesday morning at the request of the board's president and vice president, but no official actions will be taken. The meeting is designed to provide supervisors with information about community relations, existing oversight mechanisms, and a range of other potential models, including civilian oversight.
Sheriff Christina Corpus will participate in the meeting, along with representatives from Stanford University, the Coalition for a Safer San Mateo County, the County Attorney's Office, and the National Association of Civilian Oversight for Law Enforcement.
