Son Accused Of Elder Abuse Arrested In Redwood City
Police said the man caused tens of thousands in damages at his parents' home and lit a large fire in the backyard before his arrest.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A Redwood City man faces several felony charges after police allege he "terrorized" his elderly parents and their neighbors, causing tens of thousands in damages, before getting in a standoff with a SWAT team.
Police identified the suspect after his arrest Thursday as Jason Holden, 26. Investigators accuse Holden of taking over his parents' house, causing more than $30,000 in damage, vandalizing a neighbor's vehicle, and running from officers on multiple occasions.
The Redwood City Police Department had planned to execute search and arrest warrants on Friday morning but said Holden lit a large fire in the home's backyard on Thursday evening. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, the police department decided to serve the warrants early, citing an escalation in erratic behavior.

Police said Holden refused commands to exit the home and attempted to barricade inside the property. Eventually, SWAT members used a 40 MM "less-lethal weapon" and police K9 to take the man into custody.
After he was cleared medically, officers booked Holden into the San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of felony elder abuse, felony vandalism, felony eluding and resisting arrest.
