Editor’s note: The times displayed may be in Eastern Time, which is three hours ahead of what the actual time of the event is, due to a bug that we are in the process of nuking. I’m very sorry for the inconvenience. But thank you for being patient while we fix it. Without further ado, here are the top five fun things that are going on in Redwood City this week:

Option 1: Embrace your inner wild child

The Los Angeles-based band “Wild Child” is going to be paying tribute to The Doors on stage in Redwood City at Club Fox The front man Dave Brock looks eerily like Jim Morrison, with a touch of Val Kilmer before he lost his self-discipline.  The show promises to be a flashback to the 60s.

Option 2: Teach the kids how food is made

Not only is admission free the entire day (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), but two programs are planned for the public without any fees at the San Mateo County History Museum in Redwood City.

At 11:00 a.m. on Friday, preschool children will be invited to learn about agriculture. They can also make a cotton ball sheep to take home. Museum staff will conduct a special program in its Nature’s Bounty exhibit area, which features displays about farming on the Peninsula.

Option 3: Dive into a great big garden bonanza at Filoli Gardens

This one is taking place in Woodside, but it looks like it will be quite a treat for the outdoorsy among us.  It’s a bonanza of colorful blooms, tasty foods, and scents that will make you say breathe deep and say, “Mmmm.”  Walk through the gardens during any one of the tree days of informative demonstrations.  There will be fun crafts for the kids and tours of orchards.

Option 4: Watch an old fashioned juggling act

Owen Backer-Flynn will be juggling and balancing at the Schaberg Branch of the Redwood City Library.

Option 5: Jam out to some acoustic blues

Bay Area Blues trio Mighty Mississippi is going to play its brand of toe-tapping acoustic blues, including Delta and Chicago classics and original songs.  Open your ears to some down home, southern style tunes from the bygone days of juke joints a hot summer nights.
