After speaking with the trio, it was determined a 13- year-old girl drove her parents’ Tesla without their permission and lost control of the car when she hit a dip on King Street, the sergeant said.

In addition to a utility pole, she hit three parked cars and a street sign with the Tesla.

Officers notified the parents of the 13-year-old driver and of the two passengers. Police were still investigating whether alcohol was involved or if there were any other factors or people involved.

PG&E responded to inspect the utility pole. There was no immediate indication that the crash caused any power outages.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Officer Ashley Odetto at the Santa Rosa Police Department.
