2 Washington Men Arrested On Suspicion Of Carrying Pot, Weapons

Β The California Highway Patrol arrested two Washington residentsΒ Thursday afternoon after allegedly finding 30 pounds of marijuana in theirΒ vehicle.

A CHP K-9 unit officer patrolling southbound U.S. Highway 101 nearΒ Canyon Road in Geyserville saw a Dodge truck with tinted front windows aroundΒ 2:50 p.m.

When the officer stopped the truck, the driver, Luke Crosthwaite,Β 32, and passenger, Dulce Encinas, 30, both of Republic, Wash., appearedΒ nervous, CHP officer Jon Sloat said.

The officer smelled marijuana, and Crosthwaite said his girlfriendΒ had smoked some marijuana earlier, Sloat said.

A Sonoma County deputy arrived to back up the CHP officer during aΒ search of the truck, Sloat said.

The CHP officer found approximately 30 pounds of marijuana,Β concentrated cannabis, a loaded rifle in the back seat and a loadedΒ semi-automatic handgun in the center console, Sloat said.

Both men were arrested and Crosthwaite was booked in the SonomaΒ County jail for possession and transportation of marijuana for sale, having aΒ loaded firearm in a vehicle and possessing a concealed handgun.

Β Encinas was booked on the drug charges only, Sloat said.
