Airline To Create 50 Jobs At Sonoma County Airport
Avelo Airlines announced it will open a crew base at the Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport, bringing up to 50 new jobs to the region.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Avelo Airlines will open a crew base May 1 at Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport which is expected to create up to 50 local jobs, the airport announced Tuesday.
Avelo will initially base two Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft at the airport and 50 employees working as pilots, flight attendants and aviation maintenance technicians.
"We’re very excited for the next chapter in this great partnership with Avelo Airlines," Aiport Manager Jon Stout said. "We’re looking forward to the new connections and operations this will bring to our community, and all the benefits of an Avelo crew base here at STS."

Since Avelo Airlines' inaugural flight in 2021 from the Hollywood Burbank Airport to Charles M. Schulz – Sonoma County Airport, more than 300,000 customers have flown to and from Santa Rosa on Avelo, according to Andrew Levy, the founder, chairman and CEO of Avelo Airlines.
"STS is our kind of hometown airport — friendly, fast and easy," Levy said. "We are very excited about the platform for growth the airport offers Avelo, and the meaningful employment and economic impact our investment will bring to the region."

Avelo Airlines currently operates 16 Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft and serves 43 U.S. destinations. It has crew bases at the Hollywood Burbank Airport, the Tweed-New Haven Airport in Southern Connecticut, the New Castle Airport in Delaware, the Raleigh–Durham International Airport in North Carolina and the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.
The addition of Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport as the airline's seventh base highlights the region as a destination and regional transportation hub, county officials said.
American Airlines and Alaska Airlines also provide service from the Sonoma County airport. Together the three airlines offer nonstop flights to 11 destinations and a wide range of connecting flights to destinations in the continental U.S., Mexico and beyond.
"It’s wonderful to see our airline partners furthering their commitment to Sonoma County and the greater North Bay region," said Supervisor David Rabbitt, chair of the Board of Supervisors. "My best wishes go out to Avelo as they start their base operations at Sonoma County Airport."
Avelo currently serves four nonstop destinations from Santa Rosa: Las Vegas, Los Angeles/Burbank, Palm Springs and Bend, Oregon.
To serve fans traveling to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, the airline is offering expanded roundtrip flights Feb. 9 and Feb. 12 between Santa Rosa and Las Vegas.
