SANTA ROSA, CA — Several Sonoma County employees received an email on Wednesday about a bomb threat, according to authorities.

An employee from the county’s registrar of voters in the 400 block of Fiscal Drive called police around 12:30 p.m. regarding the email, which was sent to a generic county address, written in a foreign language and contained a threat about a bomb in a building, although it did not specify where, authorities said.

Further investigation revealed that several county employees from different departments all got the same email, according to Santa Rosa police, who said the email is believed to have been sent to other counties as well.

Several Sonoma County departments chose to evacuate "out of an abundance of caution," police said.

“Based on the circumstances and investigation, the threat did not appear to be credible,” police said in a news release. “No bombs or suspicious items were found.”
