Center Opens For Homeless Evicted From Roseland Encampment

A navigation center is opening for the homeless people who were camped at the adjacent Roseland Village Shopping Center as of Feb. 21.

SANTA ROSA, CA β€” Sonoma County and Santa Rosa officials are opening a center to provide services for residents of a homeless encampment in Roseland who will be evicted before mid-March. The Roseland Village Housing Navigation Center at 883 Sebastopol Road in Santa Rosa will serve homeless people who were camped at the adjacent Roseland Village Shopping Center as of Feb. 21.

The population at the encampment ranged between 120 and 140 people.

Outreach workers will connect the displaced residents to safe housing placement options that include dedicated temporary and permanent housing and to health and human services.

The encampment must be cleared to proceed with pre-development site work for a housing and commercial development.

The Redwood Gospel Mission, Catholic Charities, Social Advocates for Youth and Sonoma County Health and Human Services departments are among the service providers.

Roseland recently was annexed into the City of Santa Rosa.

The Roseland Village Housing Navigation Center will be open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday Feb. 23 to March 23.
