Chimney Catches Fire At Rohnert Park Home

Flames were spreading to the roof of the house as firefighters arrived at about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

ROHNERT PARK, CA β€” A chimney caught fire at a Rohnert Park home early Friday morning, but the resident's efforts to extinguish the fire helped prevent it from spreading, according to firefighters.

Dispatchers got a report involving a structure fire in the 1000 block of Gretchen Court, a cul-de-sac near Gold Ridge Park, around 12:27 a.m.

The caller said there were flames visible from the chimney, and they were spreading to the roof.

The first crews arrived on scene at 12:30 a.m. and found the exterior structure around the chimney in flames - but it only took about 15 minutes to bring the fire under control.

Firefighters from Rincon Valley, Rancho Adobe and Rohnert Park all assisted on the call.
