CHP Catches Two Multiple DUI Offenders Speeding on 101

Police are cracking down on highway speeding on 101 going through Rohnert Park and Cotati.

California Highway Patrol officer Quentin Shawk arrestedΒ Alan John David Evan, 33, of Santa Rosa Tuesday night for driving under the influence. He was initially pulled over for going 77 in the 55 mph zone on Hwy. 101 in Rohnert Park.Β 

According to police, Evans had multiple prior convictions: driving on a suspended license, two prior convictions for DUI, a no bail warrant out for his arrest for DUI and driving while suspended, and warrants for trespassing and public intoxication.Β 

On Monday morning at about 9 a.m., highway patrol arrestedΒ Phyllip Warren Allen, 50, of Daly City, after heΒ officers saw Allen pull out right in front of another driver. Police said he wasΒ driving on a suspended license, without insurance and has two prior DUI convictions.Β

Police said because of the volume of drivers who speed through Rohnert Park and Cotati on 101, they're ramping up patrol of the area. CHP deployed what's called their Fatal Accident Suppression Team last night, and in an hour and a half, wrote 18 speeding tickets. The highest speed was 77, according to police.

Police said the effort to reduce speeding and accidents will continue.

Both DUI offenders were booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of DUI and driving while suspended license. Evan also was charged with felony false identification to a peace officer, after he used someone else's driver's license as his own.
