City of Cotati to Host Community Meetings Regarding Marijuana Legalization
The City of Cotati is hosting two public meetings soon in order to develop regulations regarding the legalization of recreational marijuana.

COTATI, CA -- The City of Cotati says it plans to begin development of local regulation of recreational marijuana with two public meetings -- a panel discussion on March 2, followed by an open house on March 11.
On Nov. 8, 2016, California voters approved Proposition 64, which legalized the recreational use of marijuana for people ages 21 and older. Adults can possess up to 28.5 grams of marijuana and eight grams of concentrated marijuana. People are legally able to grow up to six plants at a private home, as long as the area is locked and not visible from a public place.
Cotati's panel discussion and open house are intended to help develop new regulations to cover cultivation, processing and sales of recreational marijuana within the city, and officials want to receive input from the public to help develop the regulations.

The panel discussion is planned for 6 pm to 8 pm Thursday, March 2 at the Cotati City Council Chambers, 201 West Sierra Ave. A panel of experts, including representatives from law enforcement and fire protection, local growers and commercial property owners, will present information on their areas of expertise and answer audience questions.
The open house, scheduled for 9 am to noon Saturday, March 11, is intended to provide an opportunity to ask about existing laws and regulations, as well as the process and timeline for development of new regulations. It also takes place at the Cotati City Council Chambers, 201 West Sierra Ave.
