City Removing Christmas Lights From Trees On Rohnert Park Expressway
It's a three-day process and drivers are encouraged to avoid Rohnert Park Expressway.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — Public Works personnel with the City of Rohnert Park is working this week to remove the Christmas lights from the trees in the center divider of Rohnert Park Expressway.
It's a three-day process. The work is scheduled to take place 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, May 9-11, on Rohnert Park Expressway between the railroad tracks and Commerce Boulevard.
"In an effort to help drivers avoid long delays in traffic, we encourage you to find alternative routes to your destinations," said J.P. Pritchard, spokesperson for the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

The city started installing multi-colored LED holiday lights on the 85-foot-high redwood trees along Rohnert Park Expressway in 2012.
The lights are typically put up every year in November and taken down usually in February or March, according to Tom Kelley, general services operations manager for the city.

"But due to the rains this year it got pushed back until May," Kelley told Patch. "Nothing new or I should say different than any other year."
