Apt. Dwellers Narrowly Escape Harm After Alleged Drunk Driver Nearly Hits Building

Roland Pussich, 22, was arrested Feb. 22 after his truck crashed into a tree and almost hit an apartment complex in Rohnert Park.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA -- People sleeping in a Rohnert Park apartment complex were lucky to escape injury this morning after an allegedly drunk driver nearly crashed into their building, but hit a tree instead.

At 1:10 a.m., the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Communications Center received numerous 911 calls reporting a solo vehicle crash in the area of East Cotati Avenue and Camino Colegio.

Officers arrived on the scene within two minutes of initial reports and located a red 2007 Toyota Tacoma.

According to public safety officials, Roland Pussich, 22, of Rohnert Park, was driving east on East Cotati Avenue at a high speed when he hit the center median and crossed into the westbound lanes. The truck then
slid across the curb and struck a tree in front of the Vintage Point Apartments, located at 7272 Camino Colegio.

The truck came to rest just three feet from two apartment bedrooms where residents were sleeping, officials said.

Pussich was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
