One Year Later: Candlelight Vigil Set to Remember Calli Murray

Jeff and Ling Murray, and extended family, is inviting the community to a candlelight vigil Thursday, Dec. 1 at Sunrise Park to remember their daughter, 2-year-old Calli Murray, tragically on Dec. 1, 2010.

Ling, 42, and Calli were crossing the crosswalk from Sunrise Park to their home across the street when they were struck by Kaitlyn Dunaway, 19, who has admitted to texting and driving when she ran the two over. Calli died, and Ling continues to undergo rigorous, painful surgeries from injuries sustained in the accident.

Dunaway was sentenced in November to five days in jail, and an additional 125 days of home confinement. She also was ordered to speak at community-based events and local schools about the dangers of distracted driving. .
