ROHNERT PARK-COTATI — The driver of an SUV involved in a fatal crash that killed her passenger near Cotati was arrested Thursday night.

The crash happened late Thursday on Stony Point Road, south of West Sierra Avenue.

A Chevrolet Tahoe traveling southbound lost control on a curve, went off the roadway, and struck a tree, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The passenger was killed. The driver suffered major, but non–life-threatening injuries, CHP said in a statement.

During the investigation, CHP officers determined she was driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the CHP.

The driver, Petaluma resident Angel Torres, 23, suffered major non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa. She will be booked into the Sonoma County Jailonce after she is released from the hospital, according to the CHP.
