Fire Causes Extensive Damage To Dry Cleaning Business

Dispatchers received multiple calls about the fire in the Calistoga Road shopping center off state Highway 12 in Santa Rosa.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA —A fire Tuesday night caused extensive damage to a Santa Rosa dry cleaning business.

Dispatchers started receiving multiple reports around 8:15 p.m. about a structure fire in the Calistoga Road shopping center off state Highway 12, the Santa Rosa Fire Department said.

"The first in engine company arrived in under 2 minutes and found a fire on the roof of Press Cleaners," Battalion Chief Paul Ricci said.

The engine company requested more resources, then used a ladder to access the roof to investigate and begin extinguishing the blaze.

Another crew entered the business where the fire was also burning. They brought in fire hoses to put out the flames.

Meanwhile, firefighters with the truck company cut a hole in the roof to ventilate smoke and heat from the building.

"There was extensive damage inside of Press Cleaners," Ricci said.

Five engine crews brought the fire under control in 30 minutes.

The battalion chief said that although an investigation was ongoing, the fire appeared to be accidental.
