Fire Damages Rohnert Park Townhouse

Two people displaced by the fire were offered shelter by the American Red Cross.

ROHNERT PARK, CA β€” Firefighters contained a fire at a Rohnert Park townhouse to the garage Monday afternoon, according to the city's Department of Public Safety. The residents were not home at the time of the fire on Francis Circle around 2:45 p.m., and firefighters evacuated an adjacent residence as a precaution.

The fire was determined to be accidental and appears it started at the rear of a clothes dryer in the garage. It is still unclear if the dryer was the only cause of the fire, Cmdr. Aaron Johnson said.

The Rancho Adobe and Rincon Valley fire protection districts also responded to the fire, which caused an estimated $15,000 in damage, Johnson said.
