Floor Heater Sparks Fire At Santa Rosa Duplex, Fire Department Says
Crews successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the other duplex unit.
SANTA ROSA, CA — Firefighters extinguished a duplex unit fire on Saturday morning that was supposedly caused by combustible materials on top of a floor heater, the Santa Rosa Fire Department announced.
Fire officials first responded to reports of a residential structure fire at 6:30 a.m. on 128 Stanford Street.
On the scene, firefighters said they saw a single-story duplex with smoke coming from the doors and windows.

The female resident was sitting outside, and was later sent to a local hospital for smoke inhalation treatment. Upon searching the duplex, firefighters determined that there was nobody else inside.
Crews successfully prevented the fire from spreading to the other duplex unit. The residence suffered moderate smoke and fire damage, said fire officials.

The resident said she was sleeping when smoke detectors and a neighbor woke her up. She said the floor heater turned on when the temperatures fell in the evening.
The Santa Rosa Fire Department reminds community members to check their smoke detectors, as they saved a resident's life in this incident.
