Heat Advisory: Cooling Center Open In Santa Rosa

The Santa Rosa Fire Department announced a cooling center will be open in the city Saturday.

SANTA ROSA, CA β€” The Finley Community Center will serve as a cooling center Saturday between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. when temperatures in Santa Rosa are expected to peak at 100 degrees, Santa Rosa fire officials announced.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for much of the San Francisco Bay region, and there is a red flag warning for the North Bay mountains from 11 a.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday. Low humidity and winds between 15 and 30 mph with gusts of up to 40 mph are forecasted, according to fire officials.

The Finley Center is located at 2060 W. College Ave. in west Santa Rosa.

Books, games, laptops and headphones are allowed, ready-to-eat food is permissible, and only service animals will be permitted in the cooling center.

One small tote bag or daypack per person is allowed and the city will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.
