SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man overnight Monday after he tried to force his way into an apartment where children were inside.
The Santa Rosa man is suspected of confronting a resident outside a home at 4200 Chico Avenue at about 1 a.m. Monday, Sonoma County Sheriff spokesman Juan Valencia said. Carrying a knife, he chased the resident inside, where several children were present, and tried to kick the door open, Valencia said.
Sonoma County Sheriff Deputies arrested William Vasquez, 22, of Santa Rosa, who is in custody on suspicion of attempted murder, death threats, child abuse, false imprisonment, and parole violation.

Authorities are holding him in the Main Adult Detention Facility in Santa Rosa.
