North Bay Police Chase Down and Arrest Shooting Suspect
Police in Sonoma County have arrested a convicted felon who allegedly fled and hid after firing a shot at someone during an argument.

NORTH BAY, CA -- A convicted felon who allegedly fired a shot at someone during an argument and sped away from police before later being found hiding in a shed has been arrested in Sonoma County.
Joseph Vincent Kauth, 27, of Santa Rosa was arrested Thursday, Feb. 23 on suspicion of assault with a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, vandalism, felony evading, negligent discharge of a firearm and violation of post released community supervision, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
Officers responded 8:20 a.m. yesterday to a report of a man with a gun in the 200 block of Gilbert Drive.

Police said the suspect, identified as Kauth, fired a shot at the 50-year-old victim during an argument. He allegedly fired the shot from his vehicle and drove away from the scene immediately following the shooting, police said.
The shot hit the bumper of a vehicle parked on the street; the alleged target was not injured during the incident.

Police began searching for Kauth, and an officer saw a white Cadillac matching the description of Kauth's vehicle in the area of Mendocino Avenue and Slater Street, but when the officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but Kauth sped away, police said.
Officers pursued the vehicle until they lost sight of it in the area of College Avenue but later located it in a driveway off Beaver Street.
Officers searched the area and located Kauth hiding in a shed in the area of the 700 block of King Street.
He was taken into custody without further incident.
An officer later found a loaded firearm -- believed to be the firearm Kauth used -- in the street on Chanate Road near Humboldt Street. The firearm was a revolver-style pistol believed to have been thrown from the vehicle as Kauth fled from officers.
