Not Guilty Plea Entered In Fatal Sonoma State University Stabbing

Tyler Bratton, 20, of Santa Rosa, has pleaded not guilty to voluntary manslaughter.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA β€” A Santa Rosa man pleaded not guilty Thursday morning in Sonoma County Superior County to the voluntary manslaughter of another man at Sonoma State University last month. Tyler Bratton, 20, is charged with the stabbing death of Steven John Garcia, 26, in a dormitory apartment in the quad area of the campus in Rohnert Park on May 13.

Petaluma police, who are investigating the slaying, said Bratton and Garcia were acquaintances but were not Sonoma State students.

Bratton is being held in Sonoma County Jail under $135,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 20.
