Officials Break Ground On Rohnert Park Affordable Housing Complex

Mayor Pam Stafford said Parkside, with 218 apartments, is one of the largest affordable projects ever built in Sonoma County.

ROHNERT PARK, CA β€” Rohnert Park officials broke ground Monday on an affordable housing
apartment project in the eastern part of the city, north of Sonoma State University. The Parkside apartment project is dedicated to residents with low income of up to 80 percent of the area median income and very low income residents with income of up to 50 percent of the area median income.

It will include 27 one-bedroom apartments, 131 two-bedroom apartments and 30 three-bedroom units. Rents will be established when the project is completed. Current rents for low and very low income apartments range from $921 and $2,043 depending on the apartment size.

The Parkside project and others under construction or in the pipeline will help the city exceed state requirements for affordable housing and meet 82 percent of overall affordable housing targets in Rohnert Park, according to city officials.
