Police Apprehend Suicidal Man in B Section

On Saturday afternoon, police responded to a man who was threatening to cut his wrists with a skill saw.

Police safely detained a Rohnert Park man who officers said was "detached from reality" and suicidal, Saturday afternoon on the 7500 block of Bridgit Drive.

Officers haven't released his name, but confirmed that the man is 30 years old and was seeking help at the time of the incident from medical health counselors, who called the police when he demanded medical care and to speak with the FBI.

Police said the man brandished a skill saw, and for roughly 30 minutes, held it to his wrist. It was apparent he was detached from reality, when he began to reference aliens, electrical body probes and invasive brain scans being done on him, authorities said.

"It was evident the subject was going to likely cut himself or possibly assault the officers," police said.

A struggle with three officers ensued when the man let go of the saw briefly, forcing police to tase him in his lower torso. Immideately upon being tased, the man allegedly thanked police for administering the taser. He was then transported to a mental health facility for evaluation.
