SANTA ROSA, CA — A Santa Rosa Police Department motorcycle officer was injured after colliding with a vehicle while responding to a service call.

The officer was driving a department BMW motorcycle north on Mendocino Avenue, just north of Steele Lane, when the driver of a white Subaru Outback exited the parking lot in the 2200 block of Mendocino Avenue and tried to cross into the southbound lanes of traffic, according to police.

The officer tried to stop but collided with the Subaru as it passed in front of him, Santa Rosa police reported. He notified the department about 5:40 p.m. and was treated for minor injuries before being released.

The Subaru’s driver was uninjured, remained at the scene, and cooperated with the investigation, and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be involved in the collision, according to police.

Both vehicles had minor damage.
