Updated: Police Find Missing 13-Year-Old Rohnert Park Boy

Police say the juvenile has been located and is safe. The investigation indicates the boy may have slept in some shrubbery in an area park.

UPDATE 2:00PM-

Police now report that 13-year-old James Herrington was located within one mile of his residence about 9:45 a.m. Thursday morning, almost thirteen hours after he was reported missing.

They say the boy is in good health, and has been reunited with his family.

The initial investigation indicates Herrington may have slept in some shrubbery in an unknown park during the hours he was missing, according to police.

The boy was located when a citizen, who is also an employee of the Rohnert Park Unified School District, observed him walking in the area of Davis Circle, according to police.

She contacted the 13 year old and immediately called authorities, providing an updated description of the boy and his direction of travel.

Police arrived shortly to secure the boy.

Rohnert Park officersΒ note the woman became aware of the situation through inter-office communication within the school district, and through a Nixle alert posted on the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety (RPDPS) Facebook page.

Rohnert Park Police have just canceled the alert they issued for a missing 13-year-old Rohnert Park boy.

According to an updated department release, the juvenile has been located and is safe. The alert was cancelled at 10:11 a.m.

ROHNERT PARK - Police are looking for an at-risk 13-year-old Rohnert Park boy who went missing about 9 p.m. on Wednesday night.

According to information released by the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, 13-year-old James Herrington was last seen at approximately 9 p.m. in the the 1100 block of Emily Avenue.

Police say James was last seen without shoes in the area of the neighborhood. They believe he may be disoriented and wandering around on foot.

Family members have advised authorities that the boy has become disoriented with his surroundings in the past, and wandered around until he was able to make his way back home.

James Herrington was wearing a long sleeve white shirt and blue and red plaid pajama pants when he was last seen by family members.

He was not wearing shoes.

He is described as a white male, 13 years old. Herrington is 5’7” tall, 100 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety is conducting an active search for James.

Anyone with any information pertaining to James’ whereabouts is asked to call RPDPS at (707) 584-2600.
