SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Full and partial closures are slated throughout the weekend on state Highway 12 in Santa Rosa, during which time Caltrans will work on a pavement and concrete slab replacement project.
The closures between Fulton Road and Dutton Avenue — just west of U.S. Highway 101 — start at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, and wrap up at 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25. Caltrans will divide the work into day and night shifts, with the freeway fully closed in both directions during the night shifts from 8 p.m. until the next day at 5 a.m. or 8 a.m.
During the night shifts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, detours will guide traffic around the closed part of the freeway.

During the day shifts from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Caltrans will close one of two lanes in each direction.
"Motorists traveling on Highway 12 between Fulton Road and Dutton Avenue should prepare for significant delays or choose an alternative route," Caltrans said.

The closures allow crews to expedite the demolishing and recasting of concrete pavement slabs — a job that would have taken weeks or months to complete, according to Caltrans.
The slab replacement is part of a larger project to rehabilitate a three-mile stretch of Highway 12 between Llano Road and Farmers Lane in Santa Rosa, which began in June.
