Probationer Accused of Assault On Police Officer
A Rohnert Park man is accused of injuring an officer and leading law enforcement on a chase.

ROHNERT PARK, CA β An officer with the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety was recovering this week after being assaulted by a probationer, police said.
At 9:39 p.m. Monday, officers contacted a man sitting in a car behind 200 Classic Ct. and determined he was on Sonoma County probation.
Police alleged the man, identified as Alex Reed, 36, of Rohnert Park, showed signs and symptoms that he was under the influence of a narcotic.

Officers asked Reed to get out of his car so they could continue their investigation. Instead, police said, Reed reversed and struck one of the officers with his open car door.
A pursuit ensued around Rohnert Park.

Once the chase moved onto U.S. Highway 101, it was turned over to the California Highway Patrol.
The pursuit ended in the Santa Rosa Police Departmentβs jurisdiction, where Reed was arrested.
Reed was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of failure to yield, assault with a deadly weapon, and violation of probation.
The officer was treated at a local hospital and released.
Reed remained in custody Friday without bail, with a court appearance set for Monday.
