Rancho on Track to Donate 10,000 Pounds of Food to Needy
The high school's annual food drive concluded Wednesday. Organizers anticipated more than 10,000 pounds of canned food total.
Rancho Cotate High's Associated Student Body Wednesday concluded the school's annual canned food drive, which organizers said has been donating food for the needy in some iteration since its inception in 1966.
Organizers said in total, the school was on track to collect more than 10,000 pounds β thousands of cans β of food.
"It started as a competition between just the teachers, but when we added school spirit points in to the mix, it exploded," said Jessica Holman, the ASB adviser.

Here's how it works: Each grade level, and teachers, collect as much food as possible for three weeks. At the end, all donations will be given to local food bank .
"We take care of our community," Holman said.
